The Pet Butler ethos is ‘caring’… and we don’t just pay lip service to it.

Caring – for both our two-legged clients, AND our four-legged friends!

But what does that really mean for you … and how do we make that ethos tangible for you, in a meaningful way?

Caring is reflected firstly in our hiring policies … Reliability, Responsibility, and Compassion for animals, are recruitment priorities.

Caring is built into our processes  …For example, you can rest assured that any PetButler visiting your home and your pet has been police checked and cleared. Also, PetButler carries full Public Indemnity insurance meaning more peace of mind for you.

Your Guarantee

Most of all, caring is exemplified by our famous ‘Cast Iron’ Guarantee, which simply states: “You must be absolutely delighted with our service at all times. If we fail to meet your standards on any given day, just let us know and we will do our utmost to make you happy again, including your choice of a double credit on the dog walk or pet sitting visit in question, or your money back – no quibbling, no arguments, no questions asked!”

Pet Butler is not the most expensive option for your pet care. Neither is it a ‘no-frills’, or budget service. What you will get however, is ‘value’ – value such as the bumper list of free inclusions with our pet sitting service, or, value in an action and fun packed dog walking session. Your no obligation at-home consultation with PetButler to discuss your needs is conducted at our cost and risk, not yours – another example of great value.

We firmly believe that the best care for your pet can only be provided by a properly structured and accountable pet care business. But most of all, our furry buddies would tell you if they could – so we’ll settle for a show of paws – that it really is true, that Pets Love PetButler!

Things to look out for if you shop around!

The pet care industry is a growing one, with some very reputable firms.

There are also a number of cheap backyarders and individuals working for ‘a bit of extra pocket money’ and therefore with little commitment to standards.

Whilst there are certainly decent professionals in the industry, there are also some dubious business practices that you should be aware of in order to make an informed choice. Some of the questionable things we have observed include:

a)     businesses or individuals advertising that they walk “smaller groups” of 2 to 5 dogs – then filling up a van with 10 or even 12 animals

b)    racing through pet sitting visits in 5 minutes or less in order to maximise their visits-per-hour – despite telling you that their visits are 20 minutes or more

c)     preferring ‘cash’ payments, thereby contributing nothing back to society through taxation funds

d)    adding GST as an extra cost

Another thing you should check is whether they hold public indemnity insurance. Even a lot of the larger pet care businesses do not carry it. You could be at risk of being liable for accidents or injuries caused by your pet if they do not carry this insurance

Another important factor is the availability of police security checks. An official document is issued by the police for the person in question. We advise you to sight this document before letting anyone near your home – not the document for the business operator, but for the actual person who will be attending your house.

(Another issue is key security… They should have key handling and storage procedures that are acceptable to you.)

This information is not provided to alarm you, but as a consumer service. If, for whatever reason, you do not choose PetButler this time, we’d love you to tell us your reason in order to improve our service. In fact, we’ll even happily recommend another service to you who we believe do a good job!
